2016 Driver of the Year: Robert Hinde
Robert has been with Schuster since 2003. He has been married 8 years to his wife Betty, they have 3 kids and 2 grandkids and lives in Alta, Iowa. Robert started at Schuster’s with only 2 years of over the road experience, which to him was very memorable as they gave him the chance to drive on his own. Most places he would have had to be with a trainer starting out. He has had just 2 dispatchers during his 14 years here, Gene and Rod. Robert has participated in the Iowa Truck Driving Championship twice. Thanks for being a part of Schuster Co and congratulations Robert on the 2016 Driver of the Year award.
2015 Driver of the Year: Charles Loggins
Charles is one of our Florida drivers. He has been with us since 2008. Charles is looking forward to retiring soon! Thank you Charles for being one of many great drivers and congratulations on being the 2015 Driver of the Year!
2014 Driver of the Year: Dellas “Hoot” Gibson
“Hoot” as everyone around here knows him as, has been employed with Schuster since June of 1995. He resides in Le Mars with his wife Machele. His nickname came from an old high school buddy naming him after the silent movie cowboy, Hoot Gibson. Of course his CB handle had to be Hoot Owl! Thanks Hoot for the many years of service and congratulations on being the 2014 Driver of the Year!
2013 Drivers of the Year: Loren & Carla Nilson
Loren and Carla Nilson have been married for 22 years and have driven together 12 of those years. They share their bunk with Captain and Ladee – two adorable havanese dogs. When not driving their truck they can both be spotted on their Harley and had their truck painted to match. Loren has driven for Schuster for 20 years and enjoys brewing beer in his free time. Carla loves quilting and reading in her off time and has driven for Schuster for 12 years. Their combined 32 years’ experience and dedication to Schuster is hugely appreciated. Thank You, Loren and Carla, and Congrats on being the 2013 Drivers of the Year!
2012 Driver of the Year: George Barker
George Barker shares his Michigan home with his wife of 11 years, Wanda. George and Wanda have three children: Morgan, Matt, and Elizabeth and have also been blessed with four grandchildren: Cole, Collin, Alex, and Addy. Wanda and Addy shared the privilege of picking out the color for George’s new 2014 Freightliner Coronado. “That was my granddaughter’s favorite color that week. If it was pink that week, I would have had a pink truck.” George enjoys reading Stephen King and watching old movies. He also enjoys working in his yard and restoring his house. As driver of the year, George participated in the Iowa Truck Driving Championships in June. “It was a new experience for me, but fun. I’d like to go back next year and see if I can do better.” Thank You, George, for being an incredible member of the Schuster Company family. Congratulations on becoming the 2012 Driver of the Year!
2011 Driver of the Year: Rose Swallow
Starting in March 2007, Rose Swallow continues to surpass Schuster work standards, requirements, and ethics. Having driven for 10 years, 5 at Schuster, Rose describes Schuster as, “the best company I’ve ever worked for!” Rose lives in her home town of Norfolk, Ne and loves to travel. She has recently been to Germany and Romania visiting family. Rose boasts 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl, and 2 grandchildren. She carries a folding bike with her in the truck and uses it often to relax while on the road and to also further her travel experiences. Thank you, Rose, for exceptional service and dedication to Schuster and congratulations on becoming the 2011 Driver of the Year!
2010 Driver of the Year: Barry Blanchette
Devoted employee, Barry Blanchette, started his career at Schuster in 2001. Barry and his wife of 32 years, Daryce, have 4 daughters and 6 grandchildren. “We used to raise registered black and white paint horses, but since the girls grew up, it became too difficult for us to manage both trucking and raising horses.” Barry and Daryce own a lakeside acreage in Minnesota where they grow organic vegetables; in the future, he would like to expand to include an organic winery. Barry’s laid back persona and solid work ethic have gained him the admiration of fellow drivers and Schuster personnel. Congratulations Barry! 2010 Schuster Company Driver of the Year.
2009 Driver of the Year: Amel Ellerman
Amel started at Schuster in May of 2003 and has been driving professionally for more than 8 years. The secret to his success is caution and responsibility. “Be careful and do the job the best you can. Take pride in what you do.” Amel’s hobbies include yard work, gardening, fishing, and hunting. He shares his life with his wife of 28 years, one son, one daughter, and a dog. Sassy, has been with Amel since she was a pup and apparently doesn’t realize she’s a dog. Amel’s reliability, positive attitude, and responsible driving has gained him the respect of his peers, the office personnel, Schuster’s customers, and his fellow drivers. Congratulations Amel! 2009 Schuster Company Driver of the Year.
2008 Driver of the Year: Marty Lalumendre
Marty has been driving professionally for more than 7 years at Schuster and 12 years overall. Marty contributes much of his success as a truck driver to his hard work ethics. His new truck is modeled after the 1937 style so his graphics came from that era. Marty’s philosophy for his life is “Treat people like I want to be treated, no 2nd chances”. Marty is known for running frequent Canada loads and if there is any questions regarding border rules, he is our ‘go to guy’. His dispatcher says Marty will go or do whatever is asked of him.
