We have some Schuster employees who are involved with Driver’s Education Classes around our area. A video regarding Teens and Trucks awareness published by the Iowa Motor Truck Association is shown during class time.
Then our volunteers park a truck and trailer and have the students get up in the drivers seat. This helps the student recognize that trucks and cars differ in their handling. Once the student is in the cab, a car is parked about 3 car lengths behind the trailer and then another comes up to the right of the cab.
The students are so surprised when they get out and see that there was a car to their right and one behind them. Their faces are priceless realizing the very large blind spots that trucks have.
